Abstract: The author demonstrates that every language has its "key concepts", expressed in "key words", which reflect the core values of a culture. Cultures can be studied, compared, and explained to outsiders through their concepts, and the analytical framework necessary for this purpose is "natural semantic metalanguage", based on lexical universals.
