Abstract: In the paper the non-objectivist tendencies of the communicative theory of translation are considered as a starting point for the addition of cognitive elements to the communicative translation model. The analysis of the material translated from English to Croatian lead to the conclusion that including cognitive linguistic notions into the communicative theory of language is worth consideration. The cultural models are important elements of translation not only on the lexical level but also on the grammar level. (PK)
