Abstrakt: | The author agrees that on the phonemic level sonorants are never syllabic in Polish. He claims, however that on the phonetic level syllabicity is a universal feature of word segments with greater sonority than adjacent segments and threfore phonetically sonorants are syllabic also in Polish. Only devoiced sonorants (e.g. umyślny) are not syllabic in Polish. (JB) | ||
