Abstrakt:
The work shows a comprehensive study of Polish surnames ending in -ski of native and emigrant Poles through the history. From the 15th century on surnames became an important cultural value that describe the whole family and was connected with dignity and honour. The author explores many aspects of the surnames including axiological aspect. In the first part the concept of surname is outlined as well as contemporary attitudes toward surnames and their position in the relation to the law. The second part is a dictionary of the oldest Polish surnames where one can find information about their origin as well as chronological and geographical occurrence. (PK)

Tematem pracy są nazwiska Polaków w Polsce i na emigracji zakończone na -ski. W Polsce nazwisko jako identyfikacja całej rodziny stało się ważną wartością kulturową już w XV w. Związane jest z godnością i honorem. Autorka bada różne aspekty nazwisk, najwięcej uwagi poświęcając aspektowi aksjologicznemu. W części pierwszej opisuje pojęcie nazwiska i określa jego pozycję w świetle prawa. Część druga to słownik najstarszych nazwisk polskich, który zawiera informacje o ich pochodzeniu, chronologii i rozprzestrzenieniu geograficznym. (PK)
