Abstract:
The article presents the conceptualization of time with reference to the tense system with examples from French, Bulgarian and English. The metaphorical use of tenses concerns situations when a past tense expresses future events (Bulgarian aorist, French futur antérieur) or politeness (Bulgarian imperfect, English past simple and past progressive ). As the boundaries of tenses are considered vague, there are several noticed semantic overlaps between Bulgarian present and aorist forms. Also, meaning overlaps are pointed in use of present and imperfect tense in this language. (KKG)

Artykuł przedstawia konceptualizację czasu w odniesieniu do systemu temporalnego na przykładach z języka francuskiego, bułgarskiego i angielskiego. Metaforyczne użycie czasów obejmuje sytuacje, kiedy formy czasu przeszłego wyrażają zdarzenia przyszłe (aoryst w języku bułgarskim, futur antérieur w języku francuskim) lub grzeczność (imperfectum w języku bułgarskim, past simple i past progressive w języku angielskim). Według autorki granice między czasami są nieostre, dzięki czemu odnotowuje się semantyczne nachodzenie na siebie bułgarskich form teraźniejszych i aorystowych. Wskazuje się także na pokrywanie się użycia czasów teraźniejszego i przeszłego niedokonanego w tym języku. (KKG)
